- Position: Bookkeeping and HR assistant
Reports To: Executive Director and Program Manager

The Somali Family Safety Task Force (SFSTF) is a nonprofit community-based-organization (CBO)
located in the New Holly neighborhood in Seattle, WA that serves refugee and immigrant
women and their families. We pride ourselves on being an organization by-and-for the
community. Our mission is to empower immigrant and refugee women and their families by
providing culturally appropriate services that embody the core values of our community.
Responsibilities Include:
Bookkeeping
Assist with accounts payable and receivable, payroll and tax reporting;
Assist with reconciling monthly bank and credit accounts;
Assist with the preparation of monthly balance sheet and financial reports;
Submit quarterly, annual, and final reports for state and federal funding contracts, as
needed;
Maintain electronic and hard copy general accounting files;
Data entry and maintenance of electronic and hard copy general accounting files;
Develop and implement General ledger accounting and financial reporting systems for a
nonprofit with multiple funding streams using QuickBooks;
Establish and maintain cost allocation system in compliance with requirements for
management of multiple funding streams (government contracts, grants, fundraising
events, donations, sales etc.);
Establish and maintain effective systems for tracking the use of restricted funds and
expenses associated with specific programs and projects; maintain detailed records of
restricted gifts and grants received, uses of restricted funds, and remaining balances of
all restricted funds;
Prepare financial records and documentation for independent audit, including
preparation of schedules of information as requested by the independent auditor;
Support management with budget and financial report information as needed.
Human Resources and Office Support
Keep inventory of office supplies and equipment/orders as needed;
Maintain office equipment including printers, computers, cell phones;
Manage HR paperwork, personnel file (hiring, benefits);
Administer the organization’s health care plan;
Update databases manages files and records;
Perform other general staff duties related to annual fundraiser and other duties as
assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum two years’ experience with QuickBooks;
Proficiency with Microsoft (Exchange, Excel, Access, Word);
Previous experience providing administrative support/assistance in a professional
environment;
Strong attention to detail;
Ability to prioritize and multitask;
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, with vendors, clients,
coworkers;
Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately;
Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team;
Respect for others’ experiences, opinions, languages, values, and cultures and must
have enthusiasm in working with refugee and immigrant families;
Ability to travel to other locations on occasion for work-related meetings, including on
weekends. Possess vehicle and valid WSDL and insurance;
Experience with nonprofit bookkeeping is required;
Verbal and written proficiency in the Somali language is a plus.

Run the organization’s current programs as assigned;
Develop and implement new programs including but not limited to program curriculum,
evaluate program success, recruit/enroll new participants and ensure program and
grant goals are being met;
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including but not limited to
the program participants’ family members, community leaders, other organizations, and
schools;
Find resources and provide the necessary support and advocacy in order to assist the
youth and adults achieve success;
Conduct outreach for the organization’s programs and events as needed;
Support youth and their families in navigating systems such as the educational and legal
systems;
Represent SFSTF at events for youth and families, and at community/stakeholder
meetings;
Support with data collection and input;
Support with social media content creation;
Support in event coordination;
Maintain client confidentiality and organization confidentiality;
Submit all paperwork including timesheets and other agency forms in a timely manner;
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor degree in education, social work, counseling or related field,
or 3 years of relevant experience;
Preferably but not required, fluent in Somali;
Must have prior experience and enthusiasm in working with refugee and immigrant
youth and families in education and/or social services;
Respect for others’ experiences, opinions, languages, values, and cultures;
Highly organized and can prioritize their time to meet deadlines, self-driven and able
to take initiative with tasks and see them to completion;
Ability to take directions well, and communicate and collaborate with staff in a
multi-cultural environment
Ability to work independently while also being a good team player;
Energetic and outgoing while also reliable and responsible;
Proficient in Microsoft Office, hosting events through online platforms like Zoom or
Microsoft Teams, and handling data;
Must be able to pass a Washington State background check and be able to provide
fingerprints for state requirements;
Possess vehicle and valid WSDL and insurance as candidate must be able to travel
independently between multiple work sites.

Our mission is to empower immigrant and refugee women and their families by providing culturally appropriate services that embody the core values of our community. SFSTF is seeking a full-time Senior Village Coordinator to launch a new Senior Village that serves and meets the needs of the Somali Community in South Seattle and provide much needed access to senior services, resources and activities in South Seattle. The Senior Village Coordinator designs and coordinates ongoing activities to support healthy living, recreation and social connection for Somali seniors to enhance, enrich and improve the quality of life.
Responsibilities
Outreach, Recruiting, Training
- Develops and coordinates an outreach and marketing plan to recruit program participants.
- Develops and implements a plan to recruit, train and retain a network of volunteers who will provide services and support to the Somali Senior Community Village program participants.
Program Development and Communication
- Organizes and implements regular educational workshops and trainings for seniors and their caregivers to learn about available resources and services.
- Schedule, oversees and evaluates volunteers and program activities.
- Matches volunteers with program participants and deploys volunteers to carry out a variety of services; Examples include transporting participant to doctor’s appointments and assisting with computer or internet use.
- Communicates regularly with program participants about their specific needs, refers participants to resources and evaluates program participants experience.
- Develops and maintains a data base and contact information for program participants and volunteers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule/Benefits/Compensation
This is a full time FLSA non-exempt regular position reporting to the Program Manager. Salary range – $39,520 to $41,600.
The position is scheduled to work fulltime, 40 hours per week Monday-Friday from 9:00am-5:30pm with some weekend work. Work schedules are adjusted to meet program needs. A flexible schedule is available. During the COVID 19 pandemic, some work is performed remotely. SFSTF follows all CDC guidelines for workplace management of the COVID 19 pandemic.
The organization offers a benefit package which includes paid time off (sick, vacation and personal), paid holidays, and paid family and medical leave, employee and dependent health insurance, dental and life insurance. Insurance is available after 90 days on staff.
Requirements
- 1- 3 years of experience in recruiting and coordinating human service-related volunteer programs.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, with volunteers, clients, coworkers.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Proficiency with Microsoft (Outlook, Excel, Access, Word, OneDrive).
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to travel to other locations on occasion for work-related meetings, including on weekends.
- Ability to pass a background test
- Have own car and valid driving license
Desirable
