Staff Retreat

On July 11, the staff at SFSTF went on a private retreat to recharge, relax and recuperate. First, we went to a nail salon for pedicures and finished the afternoon with a hearty and delicious lunch at a popular Bahamian restaurant in Tukwila. As a new staff member at Somali Safety, I was very excited for today. I’ve only been here for 3 weeks, and my schedule is usually a mix of assisting with programs or 1:1 intakes and meetings with clients so this is a nice change of pace. It was great to see my colleagues in a new light.

We took selfies, had pedicures and really bonded over lunch. I’ve worked at for-profit companies, and I have never seen camaraderie like I have seen at this nonprofit. People treat each other like family. They help, support and advocate for each other. I’m really glad I’m part of this org. We may come from different backgrounds, but I love how we can all come together despite coming from different cultures to support our clients day in and day out. Thank you to Ujima for funding this retreat. I personally feel refreshed, and even more motivated to help my clients succeed at Somali Family Safety Task Force.
