The Somali Family Safety Task Force provides ongoing voter education, outreach, and civic engagement workshops for its community. In 2016 we partnered with Somali Community Services of Seattle, Asian Counseling and Referral Services, Interim CDA, International Community Health Services, and Eritrean Community in Seattle to host a “Ballot Party.” Participants learned about the importance of civic engagement and participation in American democracy as well as how to register to vote. The workshops are funded by a partnership between Seattle Foundation’s Vibrant Democracy Initiative and King County Elections.
